Looking At The Year Ahead
Happy 2023! We hope that you had a wonderful holiday season enjoying time with the people you love. The start of a new year is the perfect time to reflect on the past and think about what you would like to accomplish during the next year. We want our patients to think about the state of their oral health. When was the last time you visited our office for a hygiene examination and cleaning? Did we recommend a treatment during your last visit, but you have been putting off scheduling the appointment? The start of a new year is the best time to schedule any necessary appointments. We want to help you prevent any dental emergencies or issues. Read on to learn more.
Importance of Routine Oral Care
If in reflection of this past year you realized you have not visited our office in some time, we suggest scheduling an appointment as soon as possible. Routine hygiene examinations should be every six months, unless you have a condition such as gum disease and we recommend you are to be seen more frequently. Even if you take excellent care of your oral health, delaying dental exams can lead to a number of issues. During your routine appointment, we do more than clean your teeth. We also inspect your mouth for signs of serious issues such as decay, gum disease, and oral cancer. If an issue is present, we can recommend treatment and fix the problem immediately; however, when routine care is postponed, problem areas in the mouth will continue to progress. This will eventually lead to more involved treatments and added expenses.
Don’t Let Nerves Be a Problem
It is very common to experience some form of anxiety before visiting the dentist. However, if your nerves are so intense that they keep you from receiving the dental care you need, that is a problem. Thankfully, we offer dental sedation to patients who qualify. Be sure to be honest with our team about your feelings, and we may offer nitrous oxide or oral sedatives as an option.
If it has been a while since your last dentist appointment, we encourage you to schedule your routine hygiene examination and cleaning today. We want to help you get your oral health back on track. We look forward to seeing you soon at our office located in Northridge, CA.
